While it is almost sacrilegious to criticize Snyder given his career accomplishments, he has not done a great job coaching this year's team. And the proof, as they say, is in the pudding, or, in this case, the statistics.
Kansas State is 122nd in the nation in turnover margin at -9 and it is 84th in penalties with an average of 6.5 per game. The Wildcats ground game has also suffered without the presence of quarterback Collin Klein as they are 75th in the nation in rushing with a 155.6 yards per game average.
Kansas State has traditionally thrived in those three areas under Snyder, but its inconsistencies this year have cost them dearly.
The Wildcats, who won the Big 12 last season, are 2-3 and coming off back to back road losses against conference opponents. Kansas State was competitive in each outing, falling 31-21 to Texas and 33-29 to Oklahoma State, but could not come up with a win in either case.
